Casa BeE

Casa BeE is located a 10-minute drive from Caratinga, a city in the state of Minas Gerais (Brazil) and was designed for clients who wanted a house with a strong visual impact in the development where it is located and at the same time create well-protected private spaces.

Impose yourself on the landscape to become an element in its own right.

The composition of the volumes of the new house is characterized by being very closed in its upper limits (at the altimetric level) in relation to the access street, and completely open on the lower side.

The almost triangular shape in plan clearly shows this composite choice, two continuous parts closed to the streets, and one open part permeable to the landscape.

“We couldn’t block these views, we had to integrate them into the project.”

So that each space can take advantage of these views towards the north (optimal orientation for the southern hemisphere), Casa BeE is organized according to a plan composed of two arms, one arm dedicated to the private space (the bedrooms) and a long and narrow arm; the other arm groups together all the common functions of the house, kitchen, swimming pool, relaxation area, etc. The two functional parts of the house are connected by a large volume on 3 floors (all the rest of the house is on a single floor) where on the ground floor is the immense entrance-living room of 60 m2 and 6 m high in a single space. Above this large space stands the lantern-garage.

The lantern-shaped volume of the garage rises above the entire house, imposes itself on it, reinforces the two large arms which accommodate the garden-pool area and opens onto the landscape.

Like the lantern of an ancient tower or dome, it becomes a visual reference in the landscape. Black by day, luminous by night.

Casa BeE is constructed from a simple brick structure and finished with white-walled interiors, warmed by wooden decorations and accessories. The interiors are deliberately minimalist to draw attention to the views of the landscape.

"We believe in simple architecture. We don't like artifice or the superfluous. If something doesn't contribute to the architecture, it must be eliminated."
